Tom Dahill and Ginny Johnson

Tom Dahill (vocals, guitar, accordion, and fiddle, Uilleann Pipes) Ginny Johnson (tin whistle, guitar, concertina).Tom Dahill and Ginny Johnson are superb entertainers with a fantastic repertoire of old Irish songs and dance tunes that you won't hear from anyone else. They have command of many instruments between them, Irish button accordion, concertina, uilleann pipes, fiddle, whistle, bodhran, guitar and they sort of juggle these instruments between them to suit the sounds to fit the venue as they go along through their performances. This is the music that is part of the soul of Ireland.

Ginny is a fine step dancer and can, if persuaded, hop up and add steps to a jig, reel or hornpipe. She can also 'call a ceili', that is, organize an Irish county dance for festive groups of people.

Tom learned from several of the old masters from Ireland that took him under their tutelage when he was quite young. His strong voice and sense of timing and rythm have served him well over a lifetime of performing the music that was passed on to him.

Tom Dahill and Ginny Johnson play many different venues, from Irish pubs to colleges, festivals to house parties, weddings, hooleys, and yes, wakes and sometimes funerals. They play heavy music with a light touch.

Over his long career in Irish music,Tom Dahill has performed solo at scores of colleges and universities including The Universities of Wisconsin,Indiana,Illinois, Minnesota and Notre Dame. The Winnipeg Folk Festival, The Vancouver and The Lincoln Center Folk Festival are on Tom's list of past performances. He also toured the US with The Dayhills and with Hill 16. Tom also lived in Ireland where he toured extensively with the Wicklow Mountaineers.

Together, Tom and Ginny are now based in St. Paul, Minnesota. They have played The Minnesota Irish Festival yearly as well as O Garas at the Minnesota State Fair for the past two years each day of the fair. They perform regularly at The Water Street Inn in Stillwater, Keegans in Minneapolis and at Shamrocks in St. Paul.

"Tom Dahill is one of the best entertainers playing Irish Music. He'll have you singing the party peice you practiced since you were a kid or dancing an Irish jig for the first time in your life. Tom is a well rounded performer and very easy to work with"
